BEW’s approach is rooted in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), a research backed therapeutic approach that has been helping people tackle challenges and reach their goals since the 1950s! Talk about longevity. The REBT model is geared towards addressing difficulties arising in the here-and-now, which makes the model perfect for professional development trainings.

how does Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) work?

REBT rests on the premise that we feel and behave based on the way that we think. By changing the way that we evaluate and think about situations, we can change the way that we act and react. Change takes time and practice, but with the right guidance, we are capable of changing long-held patterns of behavior.

Even if we know what needs to change, why don't we align ourselves with our goals 100% of the time?

Have you ever tried to effectively solve a difficult problem when experiencing intense emotions? Not easy, is it? That's why the REBT model first teaches people to address emotions and behaviors that are getting in their way (e.g., working on anxiety about public speaking before learning and practicing public speaking skills). Once people begin feeling better and start acting in more helpful ways, they are better able to learn strategies to navigate challenging situations and achieve their goals.
